Practitioner Spotlight: Dr. Arezou Mohajeri, Doctor of Chiropractic

An occasional feature on the health care practitioners in our clinic. A fun and insightful interview and Q&A on what makes them tick. Read on to learn more about Dr. M!

Hi Dr. M! Can you share a little bit about yourself and what brought you to the clinic?

How long have you been a chiropractor?

I have been a practicing chiropractor since 2016.

What education is involved in becoming a chiropractor? How did you enter the profession and why?

Becoming a chiropractor requires 4 years of a bachelor's degree in addition to 4 years of chiropractic doctorate education. I entered the profession because I had a passion for patient care and interaction. Helping individuals work through their pain and discomfort, while becoming a healthier version of themselves, was a very rewarding aspect of the profession to me. I also value the opportunity to work with amazing colleagues, from whom I learn a great deal.

Did you work when you were in school or when you were younger? Did you learn an interesting skill in those professions that transferred surprisingly well to a chiropractic practice?

When I was completing my undergraduate degree, I worked as a cashier at a grocery store. This helped me a lot with my people skills and working collaboratively within a team of people from different backgrounds/age groups. Developing those skills early on in my 20s made for a smoother transition into the professional workspace. Although it was at times difficult to balance university and work, it was certainly a worthwhile experience!

How would you best describe your clinical approach to assessment and treatment?

My clinical approach focuses on thorough assessment, evidence-based care, and patient-centered treatment. I start by listening to the patient’s history and goals, then perform a detailed physical and movement assessment to identify the root cause of symptoms. Treatment is individualized and may include spinal adjustments, exercise, and education, with an emphasis on improving function, reducing pain, and promoting long-term self-management.

How would you define the role of a chiropractor in today’s modern healthcare system? How does chiropractic care play a role in how we perceive health and take care of our bodies?

A chiropractor’s role in modern healthcare is to provide non-invasive, drug-free care for musculoskeletal issues, especially those involving the spine, joints, and movement. They help reduce pain, improve mobility, and support daily function, often working alongside other healthcare professionals.

Chiropractic care also shapes how we view health by emphasizing movement, posture, and prevention. It encourages people to take an active role in caring for their bodies, focusing on maintaining function and overall physical well-being rather than only treating pain when it occurs.

Can chiropractic care be used for preventative care? Should you have an adjustment even if you don’t “need” one? Or is it better to wait until you feel the pain?

Chiropractic care can be used for preventative support, focusing on mobility, movement quality, and education. You don’t need an adjustment if nothing feels wrong, but addressing small issues early can help prevent pain later. The best approach is purpose-driven care, not waiting for pain, and not getting treated without a clear reason.

How do you preserve your own health, as working on others can take a toll on your own body? Ie, do you have a self-care routine?

As chiropractors, we put the health of our clients at the forefront and aim to deliver the best care possible. To ensure consistency in our work, taking care of our bodies is integral. I try to do this through good nutrition and daily walks/stretches! I do exercises that align with my goal of preventing muscle soreness or overwork injuries.
